Basic Tips

#01. If you want to enlarge a photo, simply click (or double click?) any photo.

#02. Search around (to the right) under "Archives" to view other photos. As I add more and more photos "Archives" will come in handy.

#03. Under the photos you will see "Labels:" and to the right are different words related to the photo(s) above it. Click one of the words and photos of other items i framed will pop up relating to that word. For example, if you look at a needlepoint and want to see more needlepoints, in the "Labels:", click "needlepoint". All needlepoints will pop up. Click a person's name in "Labels:" and all of that persons needlepoints will pop up.

#04. To make a "comment" on something i framed, look for "Comments" under the photo(s) to the right.

#05. Please do not judge the quality of a photo, print, needlepoint, etc. or the quality of my framing based solely on any photo on display! I am NOT a professional photographer.

The "antique" look...

This gorgeous needlepoint was done by Shirley Guillot of Thibodaux, La. Her daughter lives in an "old" house and wanted the frame to have the "antique" look. You can tell looking at these two photos the frame really looks old and is a perfect match with the needlepoint. As always, when the proper matboard(s) and frame are chosen, they enhance the art and NOT distracting the beauty of it. The size of the needlepoint is 13" x 17". The outside dimensions of the frame is 22" x 26".

(As I mentioned before, photos do not always show the true color of matboards, frame, etc., but, it these photos, the colors are pretty close.)

St. Charles Catholic High School (LaPlace, La.)

This is the majority part of a frame job i did last year (July 2008) for St. Charles Catholic High School in LaPlace, La. These frames were hung in the cafeteria once remodeling was complete. The photos in the frames were brought in by Louis Authement of Luling who was also running the project. ALL frames have a cherry-mahogany finish.

"In Her Garden" Counted Cross-stitch

"In Her Garden" is another counted cross-stitch work of art done by Barbara Gann of Thibodaux. The cross-stitch is 11" x 16"... the outside dimension of the frame (pewter finish) is 17" x 22".

"Prince of Peace" Counted Cross-stitch

"Prince of Peace" counted cross-stitch was done by a regular customer from Thibodaux... Barbara Gann. This photo is only the first example of many many items I have framed for her in the past. You will see more and more of her work in the future. The counted cross-stitch is 11" x 20". The outside of the frame is 20" x 29". The width of the frame chosen is 3 1/4".

Hand-crocheted Name Doilies

These name doilies were brought in to be framed by a customer from Cut Off, La. These hand-crocheted name doilies were done by a customer in Norco, La. Both name doilies are approximately 5" x 9"... the outside dimensions of both frames are about 11 1/2" x 16".

Chalk Drawing

This beautiful chalk drawing was done by nine year old Olivia Peltier from Thibodaux, La. The drawing is 12" x 18", frame moulding is 2 1/2" wide and the outside of the frame is 21" x 27".

Vandebilt Catholic High School Graduate

These two photos show how a 2009 Vandebilt Catholic High School graduation invitation looks with a tassel, the invitation (inside and out), name card, three photos (2 - 4" x 6" and 1 - 5" x 7"), and honor graduation cords. The school colors are blue and gold. The outside of the frame is approx. 19" x 20". The three photos in the frame were taken by a well known photographer here in Raceland. Framed Sculpture Porcelains

What you see on display here are photos of hand carved "sculpture porcelains" carved by an artist from Thibodaux. These are just a couple of examples of her work framed. They were framed in a black frame with a black mat. The black mat was used in the background and on the four sides to give it a "shadow box" effect. These were framed without glass. Sculptures can be made of various sizes. These are approximately 3" x 4" and 1 1/2" thick. For more info about her "sculpture porcelains" contact "Doris J. Beaudean" @ (985) 446-9877.

Needlepoint - Religious

Leah Stewart from Thibodaux brought in another religious needlepoint and wanted the same color mats and frame as the previous. She loved the design on the last one and said it didn't matter if it was the same design or a different design. I chose this one and it think she will be surprised. This design was cut out slightly smaller that the basic cutout - the needlepoint viewed is approx. 7" x 8 1/2" and the outside of the frame is 12 1/2" x 14". The frame finish is known as "plum" finish (between black and cherry). I cut out this mat design using my computerized mat cutter. She is donating this to a good cause... it will be raffled.

Needlepoint - Religious

This needlepoint was another one done by Leah Stewart from Thibodaux, La. This is fairly small... the OUTSIDE of the frame is about 12" x 12". The finish size of the needlepoint is only 6" x6 1/4". The corner design in the mat is very small... the radius of the two partial circles in each corner is only 1/4" and the notch in each corner is only 3/16". This design was cut out using my computerized mat cutter.

Houma Artist!

Central Lafourche High School Graduate

This is a 2009 graduation invitation. The school colors are green and gold. The frame is a gold metal frame. The invitation has changed a few years ago. They use to me about 3 3/4" x 7 1/2" on "white" paper... now they are about 4 1/2" x 6" and the paper is a "cream color". There are a total of 10 openings in the mat, 6 of which are openings for photos.

This is a religious puzzle I framed for my mother a couple of years before she passed away. She always loved to do puzzles. One day I was browsing the internet and searched "puzzles" to see if I could find a very unique puzzle she has never done in the past. I spotted this one on a website and ordered it. When i gave it to her, she loved it. It took her a few days to put it together (with a little help from my wife). When it was finished, she asked if I could "put it on a sticker board" so she wouldn’t lose any of the pieces. I COULDN'T DO THAT! Instead, I had an idea... I made a frame the shape of the cross (the outside of the frame was 34" x 42"!) I then displayed it here for a couple of days before I gave it to her. When I did, she absolutely loved it. Customers who saw it a couple of days earlier didn’t realize what they were looking at was a framed “puzzle” until they got closer. (Since she passed away, I have been displaying it here at the shop.)

Acrylic (also known as plexi-glass) had to be used because of the shape of the frame. The pieces of the puzzle were vacu-mounted to a matboard. I put "spacers" between the matboard and the acrylic to lengthen the life of the puzzle. Customers are always making comments about this, so I decided to put these two photos on my website. My Wallpaper

I created this combination of completed items i framed using special software. I did not think combining a bunch of photos would look as good as this! I now have this as "wallpaper" on my monitor. To use this as "wallpaper" (IF you use Mozilla Firefox), simply double click this photo make it bigger, then single click it to make it even BIGGER. Now, right click it and click "Set As Desktop Background". Done... you now are now using this combination as wallpaper!

Fan & Photo

The fan is a print reproduction of a painting by "Clementine Hunter". The photo is of five sisters who went to the event... the Melrose Plantation Festival in Natchitoches. I suggest round corner cutouts in the mat(s) corners, which was cut out using my computerized mat cutter.

Christmas 2009 Needlepoint

Hi. Well... it's already getting closer and closer to Christmas 2009. This needlepoint was done by one of my regular customers, which (as usual) is absolutely beautiful. I am sure it involved a lot of time and work. I chose this mat design to enhance her work but not distract from it. These corner cuts were made using my computerized mat cutter. This needlepoint was done by Catherine Domangue of Houma.

Newspaper Clipping - Doctor

This is an example of what i can cut by hand using a razor sharp utility knife... JUST KIDDING! This cut was made using my Wizard Computerized Mat Cutter. I use the computer software to design the position and size of the cutouts. The doctor's symbol is approximately 3 1/2 x 3 1/2. I laminated the newspaper clipping to preserve it. The color of the matboards you see in this photo are NOT exactly the colors used in this framing, but close.

This is a 1997 graduation invitation i have on display here in the shop. The school colors are green and gold. The frame is "walnut" with a gold liner added to the inside of the frame to enhance the school color "gold". On display ABOVE this one (not in the photo) is an almost identical one framed in 1990. The main reason for both of these on display is it shows the difference between a cheap quality matboard and conservation quality matboards. You are seeing a graduation invitation and tassel i framed over 12 years ago. The backing i use is acid-free and the matboard is a conservation quality matboard. It looks exactly like it did the day i framed it. The invitation is still white (it did NOT "yellow") and the "bevel" and vgroove cut out in the mat is also "white" and did not fade or turn yellow. The white card, all the way at the bottom of the frame is ONLY info regarding conservation matboards.

Jazz Fest Postcards Collection

Do you have Jazz Fest postcards? This is a customer's collection of them. I believe the total amount of postcards she brought in to be framed was 27... 9 postcards in each frame.

Skeleton Keys (2)

I framed these skeleton keys a few years ago. I was trying to think of a unique way of framing the keys and this is what I came up with. Customers loved the design and said they have never seen anything like it before. I framed these a few years ago and have frames quite a few since then. Keys are held permanently in place using fine stainless steel wire. I can use the same mat cutouts (only smaller) for a lesser amount of keys.

This framing consists of a graduation photo, needlepoint, "yellow-gold" (NOT orange, like it appears to look in my photo) bottom mat, black top mat with a v-groove, regular type glass and a wooden moulding with gold a finish. The needlepoint was done by Leah Stewart of Thibodaux.
